In Harlingen, TX at Tropic Winds RV Park

Dropped off Teton at PPL in New Braunfels Thursday (Oct 19th), then drove to Harlingen.  Arrived around 8:00 pm.  Over all this trip to the HDT rally in Hutchinson, KS was good.  Volvo ran great.

In New Braunfels at canyon Trail RV park on I35 (San Marcos)

Left Hutchinson, KS Saturday afternoon to Oklahoma City at Rockwell RV park.  Stayed 3 nights ( sat- mon) $40 per night.  The south wind blew 30-40 for two days.
Visited Joe & Betty,  Jamie, Sy, and Dan.
   Drove Tuesday down I35 to New Braunfels (444 miles).  Visiting PPL wed morning to possibly leave Teton to be sold from their lot.

Continue south wed to Harlingen.

In Hutchinson, KS at Kansas State Fair Grounds (HDT Rally)

We stopped last night in Oklahoma City at Rockwell RV park ($40) for one night.  Drove from West to Oklahoma City (273 miles) on I35W thru Fort Worth.  Construction thru FTW was not bad, but rough road.  Visited with Joe and went by mall to hug Betty.  Slept in truck the two nights on the road.

Today (friday)  we drove 217 miles from Oklahoma City to Hutchinson, KS.  Arrived in state fairgrounds about 3:00 pm.  At least 30 rigs already parked.  Rumor says 80 will show up.  Missing water regulator for city water hookup.  Walmart was out.
Temp high today was 65.  Low tonight in the 40's.  Rally starts Sunday Oct 9th.
We parked in space #122.

The trip here was uneventful.  Truck ran good.  All tires did good.  Total miles = 916.

In West, TX at Waco North RV Park for one night Wed, Oct 5th

Left at 9:00 am.  Drove up 77, North on I37 toward San Antonio.  Took toll around Austin, then back to I35.  Took bypass around Waco.  Filled up at pilot (62 gal).
Staying in Waco North RV park one night in 70 foot pull thru ($30).  Drove 450 miles today.  No problems today, other than a few crazy drivers.  Clear day, light south wind.  We are staying in the Volvo tonight.  Back on I35 Thursday morning.

In Harlingen, TX at Tropic Winds RV park

Arrived back in Harlingen at Tropic Winds RV park Saturday (Aug 20, 2016).  South wind 20 knots all day.  Phaeton's main A/C fan noise has been getting louder the last two days.  Temp = 96, heat index = 104, but humidity only 50%.  It took several hours to cool down the park model.

Stopped last night (friday) at Mustang Hollow campground. ($37) , no cable or local channels.  Mud holes in dirt road.  Trains passed all night.  148 miles from Harlingen.

In Corsicana, TX at American RV Park one night (Aug 18)

Long day on the road (west on  I-20, 362 miles). Turned south on hwy 31.  Heading toward I-35.  It rained three times today,  then rained at dark.  I had to stop at a pilot for gas and add coolant (low coolant sensor went off).
American RV park($30).   Paved pull thru, but no cable.  Local channels ok.

In Vicksburg, MS at Magnolia RV Park for one night (Aug 17) west on I-20

Tiffin technician thru up two road blocks this morning:  tiffin will NOT deal with extended warranty companies,  service was back logged three weeks.
We decided to leave.  Got on the road about 10:40.  Stopped in Vicksburg, Magnolia RV Park for the night ($29).  In pull thru, 50 amp, with cable. Did 280 miles today.

In Red Bay, AL at Bunk House RV campground ( Aug 16 )- Tiffin Manufacturing plant

We arrived in Red Bay, AL at the Tiffin manufacturing plant mid afternoon Tuesday (Aug 16 ).  Tiffin RV park was full, so we are parked in Bunk House RV campground for hopefully one night.  Hopefully we will move into Tiffin' s park Wednesday.  A technician is supposed to come and discuss our list wednesday morning.

No cable,  only three channels on antenna.  No locals.  I guess we will watch dvd's.

In Bremen, GA at Yogi Bear's Jelly stone RV Park for one night (aug. 15)

Stopped in Bremen, GA just west of Atlanta.

We are travelling west on I-20 to Red Bay, AL Tuesday to the Tiffin RV manufacturing plant.  We have a short maintenance list to get fixed.  We stopped here for one night.
Overnight cost $36.79.  In pull thru.  We did not disconnect the car.  No cable.

In Yemassee, SC (half way between Charleston, SC and Savannah, Ga at Oaks of South Point TT RV park (Aug 1-15)

Traveled 244 miles today from Hendersonville, NC to Yemassee, SC down I-26 to Oaks at South Point TT.  This park is on the Frampton Plantation grounds.  We plan on spending a week visiting Charleston and Savannah.
#1 AIR GAUGE started bouncing between zero & correct pressure while in slow down.
Does not affect brakes.  Must be faulty gauge. Happened 6 times. Park has lots of trees, basic cable, WiFi in office only.  Parked in 60 ' pull thru (#85).  Humidity is high today.
Tuesday:  trip to Beaufort Walmart.  Passed by a drive Inn Theater down highway 21.
Wednesday:  Frampton plantation home, then to Savannah river walk.  Pizza for supper at Spankies(very good).
Thursday:  drove to Beaufort, tour historic church/cemetery (St Helena's Episcopal ) that was established in 1721. Visited Old Sheldon Church ruins.   Then on to Hilton Head island to the light house.
Added a week to our stay, reserved until Aug 15th.
Friday:  rainy all afternoon.  Went to see Jason Bourne movie in Beaufort.
Saturday:  rainy! Laundry day.

Sunday:  trip to St Helena Island, visited Penn center, chapel òf ease!
, then fort fremount.  Back to Beaufort main street and water walkway.

Monday (aug. 8):  day trip to Charleston Boone Hall Plantation ($24 ea).  Spent all afternoon touring bottom floor of main house(4th sinse 1700's), slave houses,  dock house, open car ride around the paremeter.  800 year old Oak trees. Hurricane Hugo (1989) destroyed most of 15 k pecan trees, only 1000 survived.  Stopped on way back (hWY 17) to eat at local restaurant (harvest Moon).  Good beef liver & onions.

Wednesday(Aug 10th )  :  trip south down I95 toward Savannah to camping world, national museum of the Mighty Eight Air Force,  Pooler, GA.

Friday (Aug 12):  trip to Bluffton to Heyward House with guided tour ($8 ea), then Church of the Cross, then to Nissan dealer for oil change.

Monday (Aug 15):  traveling today NW toward Red Bay, AL (520 mi).  We should make at least half way, in the Atlanta area.

In Flat Rock , NC at Lakewood RV Resort - July 25 - Aug. 1st

Drove today 238 miles from Chattanooga, TN to Hendersonville, NC.  Staying at Lakewood RV resort($275/wk) in Flat Rock to visit with Bob and Sallyann.

Sallyann cooked a great supper tonight.

Tuesday:  took a tour thru Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. And eat supper in the restaurant.  Beer tasting with Porter (dark) being the best.

Wed-Thur:  toured downtown Hendersonville & Ashville

Friday:  touring Biltmore Estate, this place is great!! ($60 ea)
Saturday: supper at Fatz, then to a movie with Bob & Sallyann.

Called Oaks at Point South RV directly at 843.726.5728. Talked to Ruby and made TT reservation for Aug. 1-8. Whole park has 50 amp/cable.

In Chattanooga, TN at Holiday Travel Park July 18-25

Traveled east to Chattanooga, TN Holiday Travel RV Park for a week July 18-25 ($258)
Very nice park.  This park is on civil war battleground.  Good Sam rated the best.  Distance today 166 miles with no problems.  Booked all day train ride next Saturday (Copperfield special ) $60 each on Tennessee Valley Rail Road.  Cable connection works.  King dome still a problem.

Wednesday:  southern Belle boat tour on the tennessee river  1.5 hours cost $24 each.

Spent Thursday on lookout mountain in three sites:  Ruby Falls, Incline Railroad, and Rock City.  All three cost $158 for two.  Ruby Falls was the best.  Incline RR was disappointing.  Long day of walking.  Point Park national park was interesting.

Saturday:  drove to Etowah, TN for all day train ride on Tennessee Valley Railroad to Copperhill, TN.  Left at 9:30 - 5:30. ($60 ea).

In Nachos trace TT, Hohenwald, TN, SW of Nashville June 11-18

We travelled east to Hohenwald, TN SW of Nashville yesterday.  We ran up on a low bridge (11 feet) just before the entrance and had to go around 20 miles.  Then ran right tire up over the dolly in a hard right turn entering the park.  Had to jack up, then block the tire 4 times to get it off.  Right dolly fender scratched the passenger door.  No other damage.  Took an hour to find a 50 amp space.  Just a hand full in park.  Most where occupied.  We should not have come in on a weekend.  Lots of spaces freed up sunday.
   Planning on staying a week(16th)  We may extend a few days, so we can travel on Monday or tuesday.
Internet only available at clubhouse.  No TV at motorhome.  Going to clubhouse to watch TV.  Three day TN fishing license ($20) .  Several strikes, but none caught.

Went to Loretta Lynn's ranch tuesday.  Original mansion was 180 years old (14 rooms). Nice museum.

Went to Jack Daniels, ran into Richard/Louis just before the tour.  Eat lunch in Lynchburg town square and shopped.

Bought a 3 day fishing license ($20) and fished MTW evenings.  Several strikes, but no catches.
Visited Hohenwald museum.  Full of African animal trophies.

Decided to extend our stay until Monday July 18th.  Move on east to Chattanooga for a few days, before turning north to NC.

Got one satellite (out of three) on dish.  Line of trees south/west is blocking signal.

Internet and cell phone service is very weak.

Booked our next stop at Holiday Travel Park Of Chattanooga , TN for a week July 18-25 ($258).

In Saulsbury, TN east of Memphis at Cherokee Landing TT

Traveled yesterday east on I-40 thru Memphis 355 miles to Cherokee Landing thousand trails park.  Park has only a few 50 amp sites with water only.  We actually are using 2 30 amp plugs to equal 50 amps.  The park is 95% empty.  Only two pull thru sites with 30 amp only.  Nice swimming pool. Buildings are old and Need repair and paint. Staying 3 nights, then nachos trace TT, hohenwald, TN, SW of Nashville 107 miles farther east on saturday.
Temp is low 90's,but with heat index above 100.  $4 use fee per night.  Lots of trees.

Had to replace latch on fridge.  Found replacement in Selmer RV parts store.

We left Fritch at 10:00 am heading east on I-40.  Stopped for the night in Fort Smith Arkansas AR at Park Ridge RV Park ($35) pH (479)410-4678.  Drove 430 miles today.

We plan on driving 450 miles Wednesday to Natchez Trace Thousand Trails RV park
Near Nashville and stay for at least a week.

Drove from Amarillo to Fritch Saturday (July 2), to meet Joe & Betty at their Fritch place.  Leaving Tuesday (July 5) headed east on I-40 toward Tennessee.  It was hot.

In Amarillo, TX at Oasis RV park June 27 - July 2

Traveled from Oklahoma City yesterday (27th) to Amarillo to Oasis RV park ($34/night) for 5 nights.  Moving to FRitch next Saturday to meet Joe for July 4th weekend.

June 29th:  took motor home to freightliner service(Premier truck group, 806.342.2178)  to fix hydraulic oil leak  on front Passenger side, tork lug nuts. Leak was a loose cap only (cost $39).

Decided to stay 2 more nights, until Monday June 27th, so I could get Dan to install a new radio in the coach with Sirius XM on sunday. ($40 per night).  Bought Sony radio at best buy for $130.  Going to gun show saturday.

Bridgeport, TX to Oklahoma City at Rockwell RV Park

We installed the new slide motor ($560), and drove to Oklahoma City Saturday (18th).
Rockwell RV park for a week ($250).  It is HOT!  Plan on driving to Amarillo Oasis RV park on 25th.  Still have not figured out how to connect to park cable?  Park is half empty.  10 spaces fill per night with overnight travelers.

Still in baylanding, Bridgeport, TX, waiting on slide out motor replacement

We tried to leave baylanding this morning, but could not get the driver slide in.  Slide got half way, then stopped.  Ken (next door) came over and diagnosed the burnt out motor.  We ordered a replacement motor ( in stock in Arlington).  Motor is due to arrive UPS Friday morning.  Ken and I will install tomorrow.  Ken's remote RV repair business was not accepted by my extended warranty company, due to Ken not having insurance.  (American Guardian ).  That sucks!!  I can not move, due to a broken slide, so I will pay, and continue to Oklahoma City , hopefully Saturday (18th).

Travel from Harlingen to Bridgeport, TX on summer vacation - June 2nd

Left Harlingen June 2 (thursday) in motorhome.  Spent thursday night in Walmart parking lot.  It was very noisy.  Longhorn steak restaurant alarm went off at 2:00 am,  Walmart employee decided to leaf blow the parking lot at 4:00 am.

Arrived in Bridgeport thousand trails RV park Friday afternoon.  Reservation until Monday (13th).  Flew at Decatur sunday.  BFR with Shane in 2-22, 2nd flight in 1-26,
3nd flight in Russia.  Tom flew Russia also.

Weather Is nice.

Changed tt reservation to leave on 16th.  Made reservation for 16-23 in Rockwell RV Oklahoma City.  Main A/C circuit breaker tripped sat morning.

Traveled from Harlingen to Amarillo and back- for aunt Kathryn funeral in Nissan

Left Harlingen Mar 31 toward Amarillo.  Spent Thursday night in ranch house motel in sweetwater..  motel was old and too expensive ($86).  Viewing Friday evening.  Grave site service Saturday afternoon.  Stayed at Richards.  Richard in hospital Friday afternoon.  In all weekend. Left Amarillo Monday morning, stayed in super 8 ($66) in New Braunfels Monday night.  Home Tuesday April 5.  780 miles one way.

Flew SW to Phoenix to pick up Allegro motorhome, drove back to Harlingen

Flew SW to Phoenix (Feb 3) to pick up Allegro coach from LaMesa RV. Left  Phoenix at 5:00 pm to drive back.  Wed night in Casa Grande, Thursday night in Deming,  Friday night in Fort Stockton, then drove rest of way into Harlingen.  1230 miles one way.  No problems, got over 9 miles per gallon average.

NCL Cruise from Houston to western Caribbean

On cruise Jan 23-30 from Houston to: Cozumel, Belize, Roatan on NCL Jade.
Took bus from tropic winds to Houston port (6-7 hrs) both ways with 80 other residents.  Good weather whole trip.  On dock in Cozumel, tenders to shore in Belize and Roatan.  Put $250 deposit toward next NCL cruise, good for 4 years.

In Phoenix, AZ at Quality Inn

Spent two nights in Best Western (cost $183 for two nights.).  Moved to Quality Inn for $54 per night.  Much better room.  Gerald has removed old hitch and is installing loader mounts to bed today.  Hitch has not arrived, yet.  Bob & Maryann are in casa grande.  Visited camping worldtoday.  Looked at 2016 Palazzo with bath in back.  Asking $175K.
Weather is wet all week.

Roads were all good, but drove thru snow & ice on ground east of El Paso.

1st day on the road headed to phoenix, az.  Staying overnight in comfort Inn ($98) in Sanora, TX (on I-10 ).  We traveled 424 miles today.
